Four parts. One clear picture.

Medicare is the federal health insurance program for people 65 and older and for some younger people with disabilities, End-Stage Renal Disease or ALS. Here's what each part does — and where private plans fit in.

A

Part A · Hospital

Inpatient hospital stays, skilled nursing facility care after a qualifying stay, hospice and some home health care. Most people pay no premium if they or a spouse worked and paid Medicare taxes for about 10 years.

B

Part B · Medical

Doctor visits, outpatient care, lab tests, durable medical equipment and many preventive services. The standard premium in 2026 is $202.90/month.

C

Part C · Medicare Advantage

An all-in-one alternative to Original Medicare offered by private companies approved by Medicare. Covers everything Parts A & B cover, usually includes drug coverage, and has a yearly out-of-pocket limit.

Explore Advantage plans →
D

Part D · Prescriptions

Prescription drug coverage from Medicare-approved private plans. Out-of-pocket drug costs are capped each year — $2,100 in 2026, rising to $2,400 in 2027.

+

Medigap · Supplement

Standardized private policies that help pay the deductibles, copays and coinsurance Original Medicare leaves behind. Pairs with Parts A, B and a separate Part D plan.

Two paths through Medicare.

Most people choose between Original Medicare (often paired with a Medigap policy and a Part D plan) and a Medicare Advantage plan. Flip the switch to see how they differ.

  • Doctors: Any doctor or hospital in the U.S. that accepts Medicare.
  • Referrals: Generally not required to see a specialist.
  • Costs: Part B premium + Medigap premium + Part D premium; Medigap can cover most cost-sharing.
  • Drugs: Add a stand-alone Part D plan.
  • Extras: Routine dental, vision and hearing generally not covered.

Timing is everything

Know your enrollment windows.

Medicare limits when you can join, switch or drop a plan. Missing a window can mean waiting — or paying a lifelong late penalty.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Does it cost anything to compare plans with you?

No. Our licensed agents are compensated by the insurance companies whose plans they offer, so there is no cost to you for our help and no obligation to enroll.

Are you Medicare or a government agency?

No. Instensify Quotes is a licensed insurance agency. We are not connected with or endorsed by the U.S. government or the federal Medicare program. For official information you can always visit Medicare.gov or call 1-800-MEDICARE.

Do you offer every plan in my area?

We do not offer every plan available in your area. We'll tell you how many organizations and products we represent where you live, and you can contact Medicare.gov, 1-800-MEDICARE or your State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) for information on all of your options.

Can I keep my doctors?

It depends on the plan. With Original Medicare (and Medigap) you can see any provider that accepts Medicare. Medicare Advantage plans usually use networks, so we check your doctors before you choose.

When can I change my plan?

Most people can change Medicare Advantage or Part D coverage during Open Enrollment, October 15 – December 7. Other windows include the Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period (January 1 – March 31) and Special Enrollment Periods triggered by life events.

I have Medicare and Medicaid. Can you help?

Yes. People with both Medicare and Medicaid ("dual eligibles") may qualify for Dual Special Needs Plans (D-SNPs) and can change plans more often. Select "Yes" for Medicaid on the form so your agent is prepared.

One call. Every plan we offer in your ZIP, side by side.

A licensed agent will check your doctors, your prescriptions and your budget — then show you the numbers. No cost, no obligation to enroll.
